Preventative Care

At Hero Way Pediatric Dentistry, we aim to prevent any dental problems before they happen. That’s why we inform both you and your child about healthy dental habits so that you can leave our practice knowing your child’s dental health is set up for success.

Pediatric Dentistry

At Hero Way Pediatric Dentistry, we agree with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry’s (AAPD) recommendation to establish your child’s “dental home” by age one or when the first tooth emerges, whichever occurs first. It has been shown that establishing your child’s dental home provides the opportunity to implement preventive dental health habits that keep a child free from dental/oral disease. Our office focuses on prevention, early detection, and treatment of dental diseases. We work to keep current on the latest advances in dentistry for children, and our services reflect just that!

Oral Sedation

Oral conscious sedation is one of the three sedation methods dentists use to help calm patients down during dental procedures. Unlike nitrous oxide sedation and intravenous (IV) sedation, patients take the sedative in the form of a medicated drink about one hour prior to the procedure. The combination of medications is tailored to your child depending on many factors including medical history, age, gender and type of treatment needed. The result is a very relaxed and calm mood that will allow the dentist to effectively perform treatment.

White Crowns

Your child may need to have a dental crown placed if they have a significant amount of tooth decay that cannot be safely restored with a dental filling. Although silver stainless-steel crowns are the standard of care, your child may qualify for a zirconia or porcelain coated metal crown if the cavity is in an esthetic region and if behavior permits. White crowns can seamlessly blend in with your child’s other teeth and still have the strength of a less attractive stainless-steel crown.

Silver Diamine Fluoride

Silver diamine fluoride is a FDA-approved treatment for tooth desensitization and has proven helpful in stopping the progression of cavities. We are very thorough with our processes and ensure that we check for any history of allergies before recommending and commencing cavity treatment with SDF.

Nitrous Oxide

For some children, dental procedures can be very intimidating. At Hero Way Pediatric Dentistry, it is our goal to provide pediatric dental patients with a positive experience in a safe, stress-free environment. One way we are able to achieve that is through the use of nitrous oxide, often referred to as “laughing gas.” This mild form of sedation is commonly used to relieve anxiety and discomfort during dental procedures.
